Instagram is testing a new version of collaborative publishing

Instagram is experimenting with a new option that will allow users to add their own images and videos to an existing post. When the option is enabled, users can submit their own additions for review. Any additions will not be displayed until they are approved by the creator.

A similar trend, has emerged thanks to TikTok, where remixes and duets have become key interaction tools, attracting more users.

Almost every TikTok trend now generates a million copies, which has opened up a whole new avenue for collaborative content, where users are moving from passive consumers to active fans.

The only problem may be whether these posts will be re-shared after editing. For example, if I post an update and ask people to add their own images, and a couple days later I approve those additions, will anyone even know about those new shots, or would I be better off re-sharing each update in a separate, new post for maximum distribution?

No word yet on official testing or rollout, but we'll keep you posted on the changes.
