Is Instagram selling blue ticks?
Not yet, but anything is possible. Researcher Alessandro Paluzzi recently discovered hints of a paid verification feature in Instagram's code. Apparently the administration of the social network was inspired by Twitter - they are already raking in money for a nice nametag next to a person's name.
The tag is codenamed Blue Badge. A reference to it was also found in the code of the Facebook app. So the paid badge may appear in other Meta products as well.
So why believe some researcher? If only because Alessandro Paluzzi has already noticed new Instagram features more than once before they were launched. For example, he was the first to tell the world about the development of a scheduling tool in the app.
However, in the past, the social network has confirmed researchers' speculations when they discovered any unreleased features. Now, however, there is silence.
For now, the blue badge is still only awarded to famous people, celebrities and global brands. But ordinary users want it too. And demand, as you know, creates supply. That's why a whole shadow verification market has emerged - people pay thousands of dollars for ticks.
So we advise to be careful. It's better to wait for official paid verification on Instagram.
Or increase your presence in the media sphere to get ticked for free.
