Meta has released a new product, Family Center, whose features will be added to Instagram.
Family Center is a tool for parents to help monitor their child's online activity. This platform hosts a learning center where parents will be able to watch videos about using resources and setting them up. There will also be helpful articles and tips on how to intelligently support, protect and educate your child in the information system.
Meta says the center was developed in collaboration with experts, young people and parents. They aim to create a tool for unobtrusive help from parents, but preserving the child's privacy and confidentiality.
"The co-design process made it clear that teens like to look to their parents for support and guidance, but they often don't know where or how to start..." - Janice Richardson, international advisor for Insights SA.
Meta is developing the ability to monitor a child not just in certain networks, but in the entire met universe. And everything will be trackable from one place.
At the moment Meta has announced this project in the U.S., but soon these features will be available worldwide.

"Parents can support and monitor their children's gradual increase in independence as they demonstrate responsible and safe use with respect for others and for themselves. By engaging parents as co-parents with their children, we can support their education in the digital ecosystem in ways that are compatible with their education in the physical world, setting their children up for long-term physical, mental and social well-being." - Dr. Michael Rich, director and founder of the Digital Wellness Lab at Boston Children's Hospital
The younger generation need not worry about their independence - such control can only be established with the consent of both parties.
Do you think such updates will benefit the education of young people, and would you take advantage of these functions yourself?
