Instagram is now allowing all users to upload publicly published videos. Get ready to see more Instagram logos in TikTok clips.
Today, Instagram announced that all users can now upload publicly published videos within the app, after initially rolling out this feature to users in the United States back in June.
Uploading Videos from Instagram
You will now see a new "Upload" option on the "Share" screen of reels if the creator has enabled the upload of their clips. Published videos can be downloaded by default, although creators can disable this feature if they do not want people copying their clips.
As previously noted, this will make it harder for spam accounts to take IG content and repost it on TikTok to gain more reposts and likes for their accounts. While it will still have the IG branding, most users won't mind, although the TikTok algorithm could reduce the reach of pre-branded posts, including the IG logo.
I mean, it's probably the IG logo specifically that's pushing creators to share original content, but nevertheless, it will likely lead to more users also resharing popular IG clips on TikTok.
But besides gaming the system, this will also provide an opportunity to save the best Reels clips and share them in new ways.
While not a revolutionary change, it will contribute to increased engagement and new possibilities, which can help enhance the impact potential for Reels creators.
Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, states that starting today, the ability to download publicly published videos is available to all users.
