Instagram rolls out 10 AI tools

Instagram is actively adopting AI tools

Mark Zuckerberg:

"We've seen some really incredible breakthroughs in generative AI in the past year, and now we have the opportunity to take that technology, push it forward and build it into each of our products."

We've already seen Meta's early experiments on this front with generative AI tools to create ads.

In addition, Instagram is also developing several other creative artificial intelligence tools for regular users that will soon appear in your IG feed.

These include:

1. Creating generative stickers with artificial intelligence

Instagram is working on a new generative AI tool for your Instagram posts and stories that will allow you to create custom graphics based on text prompts.

2. Artificial Intelligence Stickers on Instagram

This will allow you to create custom stickers that you can then add to any of your IG posts.

3 - Visual editing tools

Instagram is also looking to introduce generative artificial intelligence tools that will allow you to remove or replace elements of your uploads as you create them.

4. Instagram's AI editing tool.

There are currently two elements to this. One is the "AI Brush" which will allow you to replace parts of your image using generative AI to fill in the gaps. The other is "Restyle," which will allow you to recreate sections of your uploaded image using text prompts.

5. Chat Bot with Artificial Intelligence

Similar to Snapchat's My AI chatbot tool, Instagram is also experimenting with a new dialog interface built into your direct.

6. Artificial Intelligence Chatbot on Instagram

You'll also be able to call out this tool in your direct messages by typing @ai in the chat box so you can ask questions about, say, places to dine, what movies are going on, or just to ask a question.

7. Message Summary

Can't be bothered to read large messages?

This artificial intelligence-based tool will summarize your messages, saving you time.

8. Instagram Direct summary tool

With a large number of direct posts, this can be handy, although I'm not sure I fully trust an AI system to understand the full context of each post.

9. Labels on AI-generated content

In addition to the creation tools, Instagram is also looking to increase the transparency of AI generated content with new labels that will explain when an image was created by the AI.

10. Instagram's AI tags

As you can see in this example, if an image was created using Meta's own generative AI tools, it will be tagged as such, while Meta will also encourage creators to add an "created by AI" marker to posts they upload from other tools.

Given the rapid growth in the use of generative AI, this could be an important metric for transparency, though many will no doubt try to circumvent the tags in hopes of tricking people with images they've created.
