Best times to post on social media in 2023
Sprout Social published its annual list of the best times to post on each of the major social media apps, based on an analysis of interaction trends among Sprout's more than 34,000 users over the past year.
And for the first time, Sprout also included TikTok data, which can help get better results, though it's worth noting that these are generalized results for a number of brands and users. Sprout also published a breakdown by industry to get more details, but the key point is that results will vary. With that said, here are Sprout's notes on the best times to post on each of the major social apps this year (all results are based on your local time).
Best times to post on Facebook:
According to Sprout, the best times to post to Facebook in 2023 are:
Monday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wednesday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon
So mornings are better, and weekday efficiency is better than weekends.
At the same time, on Instagram, mornings are also the time when the most engagement happens.
The best times to post on Instagram are:
Monday from 10 a.m. to noon
Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Friday 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
For both Facebook and Instagram, Sunday is the worst day to interact, though it can also simultaneously open up new opportunities for interaction if other brands don’t post on Sundays - try it.
Could it be that more brands are posting on weekdays and therefore have less engagement on weekends?
Could your business perform better on weekends based on how people use those apps during their free time?
The best times to post on Twitter:
Mornings are obviously also the best time to tweet:
From 9:00 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Friday, there is the most tweeting activity, which corresponds to the platform's greater focus on real-time news.
Of course, Twitter is currently confusing given the various changes under Elon Musk, but if you want to better understand the potential of tweets for your brand, these notes may help.
Best times to post on LinkedIn:
At LinkedIn, Sprout says Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. are the best times to post company pages.
Weekends are not good - but again, results will vary, etc.
The best times to post on Pinterest:
Finally, we have Pinterest, which Sprout says shows the most activity from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
Although Friday is also a day of high engagement, with less activity on Sunday and Monday.
There is food for thought here that may help you in developing a publication strategy - although these notes can’t claim to be absolute truth, why not follow this data for a while and compare the results with your past results?
Try it out, look for the best point of contact with your audience, that’s the main action that can bring results.
