Oh, how long the guides went before us. Or guides... No, tips! Or guidebooks? There are many names, but let's get it in order.
The function was rolled out at the beginning of 2020 and only the “elite” were given access to it. It was intended for mental health content.
And already in November, Instagram made this format available to everyone. And the functionality of the novelty was expanded by this time.
In fact, a guide is a thematic collection of already published posts, to which you can add a description and design to your liking.
This is done very simply. Go to your profile, click on the plus icon in the upper right corner and select "Tips" ("Guide" on Android). Further, everything is intuitively clear, but we nevertheless attached the instructions (see the carousel).
There are three types of guides filling: goods, places and posts. But regardless of the type, you can add personal publications and posts from the "Saved" section to the collection.
By the way, you can't just change the cover - you can't upload a picture. So we choose from what is in the saves or in the profile.
If there is no suitable image among the posts yet, it's okay. Publish the guide. You can always edit it and add new publications.
As is the case with IGTV and masks, the section is shown in the profile on a separate tab (open book).
Yes, not every subscriber will log into your account and specifically search for collections. But you can share them in a story or via a link. It's easy to do - just click on the airplane icon.
But there is also a minus - there are no statistics in the section. So we will not be able to follow the usefulness of the guides.
What does the update give us?
Guides are a universal format. A businessman, blogger or ordinary user - anyone will find a use for him. For example, if you used to group posts by a unique hashtag, now it is enough to combine them into one guide.
Want to talk about your favorite stores and products - guide. Share with your subscribers good coffee shops in your city - and again the guide! In general, a useful thing. We will try.
