Changes to Instagram Account Center

Meta has announced an update to its Account Center management platform that will provide more options for your Facebook and IG data.

Back in January, Meta introduced an updated Account Center that now brings together all of your data management options for Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger in a single interface.

It now also adds a personal data upload so you can access all the information Meta has about you in one place.

Meta:

"Uploading your information and accessing your information is now centralized in the Account Center, and you can now upload information from your Facebook and Instagram accounts at the same time. For example, you can upload photos you've uploaded to both platforms - you can now do this in one action. Or you can still upload your information for Facebook and Instagram separately."

This will make it easier for people to understand how they can access these settings, which many people are probably unaware of because they've long been hidden in subsections of your app's settings.

Meta is also expanding its "Off-Meta Activity" (formerly known as "Off-Facebook Activity") and "Sharing Your Information" elements. Until now, these settings were only available for Facebook, but now you can access them for your Instagram activity as well.

You'll now be able to more easily access the information Meta has collected about you from other sites and apps, which will help you manage how your information is used in each app.

Meanwhile, "Transfer Your Information" will allow you to transfer all your Instagram photos and videos to other services, "making it much easier to share and preserve your memories."

I don't know how many IG users will find their uploads to be valuable memories, but you now have a new centralized management option to access and store your photos outside of the platform if you so choose.

As noted, Meta is working to make its centralized Account Center a more comprehensive tool, providing an easier way to manage your meta app's settings and data, while also keeping your apps more interconnected. This could also help Meta in case it is potentially ordered to split up its empire, as has been suggested in various antitrust proceedings.

New updates to Meta's Account Center are rolling out starting today. You can access your Account Center from the Settings menu in Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
